2008 SCHEDULE OF EVENTS

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 6

• Youth Horse Show – 9 a.m.
• Little Miss Fair Queen Pageant - 10 a.m.
• Miss Fair Queen Pageant – 6 p.m.

SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 7

• Set up education exhibits 1 p.m. – 5 p.m.
   

• Preparation of grounds and buildings
• Preparation of commercial exhibits
• Set up education exhibits 3 p.m. – 7 p.m. 
   

TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 9

• Enter canned goods, baked goods, apiary, clothing, crochet, tatting, knitting, quilted articles, needlework, household articles, arts, crafts, and horticulture exhibits  - 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
• Enter potted plants – 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
• Educational Building will close at 6 p.m.
• Enter rabbits and poultry 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
• Rabbit Judging - 5 p.m.
• Enter Dog exhibits – 4 p.m. – 5:30 p.m.
• Carnival Starts – 6 p.m.

• Enter all livestock and poultry exhibits – 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.  After unloading livestock, trailers must be removed from the livestock barn parking area.  Trailer parking will be available near the riding club arena. 
• Enter cut flower, rose specimen & arrangements: 9 a.m. –12 p.m.  
• Entertainment – 7 p.m.

JUDGING

• Educational Exhibits - 8:30 a.m.
• Clothing - 8:30 a.m.
• Food Preservation - 8:30 a.m.
• Crochet, Tatting & Knitting - 8:30 a.m.
• Quilted Articles - 8:30 a.m.

• Open Beef Exhibits – 2 p.m.
• Open Commercial Heifer – following the Open Beef

• Commercial Feeder Steer Calf – following the Jr. Beef
• Market Steer – following the Commercial Feeder Steer Calf

• Exhibit Building open – 10 a.m.
• Commercial exhibits open -5 p.m.
• Carnival open - 6 p.m.
• Sale of Market Animals – 7 p.m.
• Entertainment – 7 p.m.
• All fair exhibits close – 10  p.m.
   

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 13

Trailers will not be allowed in barn parking area until 10 p.m. (Release time).

• Exhibit Building open – 10 a.m.
• Dog Show – 10 a.m.
• 4-H Pullet Sale – 10 a.m. followed by Rainbow Pullet Sale
• Carnival open – 12 p.m.
• Children's Day - 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. (Carnival rides at reduced prices)    Commercial exhibits open – 1 p.m.
• Jr.  Livestock Awards- 6 p.m.
• Youth Talent Show – 6 p.m.
• Entertainment – 7 p.m.

Remove livestock exhibits – 10 p.m. All livestock exhibits shall be removed by 12 midnight on Saturday night.  The Pope County Fair Association’s liability and responsibility for the livestock exhibits will cease at that time.  Security will be provided until noon Sunday for anyone who wishes to pick the animals up after midnight.

• Remove commercial exhibits. – 10 p.m.
• All fair exhibits close - 1 a.m.

SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 14

• Remove livestock exhibits 12 to 6 p.m.

MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 15

• Remove exhibits from economics building  – 12 p.m. – 6 p.m.
• Remove commercial exhibits 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
